Lady Tigers defeat SAU 66-54 to close out home season

ARKADELPHIA, Ark. - The Ouachita Lady Tigers defeated Southern Arkansas University by a final of 66-54 on Thursday night in Bill Vining Arena. Kori Bullard led Ouachita with 11 points and five blocked shots. Senior Bria Caldwell finished with nine points, three assists and two steals. Senior Katie Kapler finished with eight points anf five rebounds. The win improves the Lady Tigers to 11-14 overall and 8-11 in conference play. 

Ouachita led 39-23 at the end of the first half. They held the Lady Muleriders to only seven first-half field goals and forced 13 first-half turnovers. The Lady Tigers led the entire first half, shooting 40 percent from the floor and 81.8 percent from the free-throw line. Madison Brittain led Ouachita with seven points in the first half. Bullard scored six and had four blocks.

In the third quarter, Ouachita maintained a double-digit lead for the duration of the period. The led by as many as 23 in the quarter, but back-to-back three-pointers from SAU cut the lead to 17 heading into the fourth quarter. In the final quarter, the Lady Tigers worked clock on offense and limited second-chance opportunities on the defensive side. they continued to sink free throws down the stretch finishing the second half shooting 83 percent at the free-throw line. Bullard and Morgan Miller led the Tigers in scoring in the second half with five points each. They combined for the Lady Tigers' two second-half three-pointers.

The Lady Tigers will travel to Monticello, Ark. this Saturday to face the Arkansas-Monticello Blossoms. Tip-off is set for 1:00 p.m.
