ARKADELPHIA, Ark. - The Ouachita Lady Tigers won their third-straight game on Saturday, defeating the Arkansas-Monticello Blossoms in Monticello, 76-74.
Madison Brittain led the Lady Tigers with 16 points, including four three pointers.
Kori Bullard scored 12 and collected six rebounds and two blocked shots.
Shakyla Begnaud finished with 12 points and six rebounds. The win moves the Lady Tigers into sixth place in the GAC standings.
Ouachita opened the first five minutes of the game with a 12-6 lead. The Lady Tigers made four three-pointers in the first quarter, including two from Bullard and they led 26-22 going into the second. The Blossoms tied the game for the first time at 32-32 with 4:29 remaining in the first half. Ouachita regained the lead on the next possession and led 37-35 going into halftime. The Lady Tigers shot 50 percent from the floor int he first half and 55 percent from beyond the three-point line. Bullard had 10 points in the first half, followed by Brittain with eight.
The Lady Tigers opened the third quarter with a 9-0 run to take a 46-37 lead. Ouachita held the lead until late in the quarter when the Blossoms took a 56-55 lead with just eight seconds remaining. Ouachita's
Taylor Bowles hit a three with time running out to give the Lady Tigers a 58-56 advantage heading into the final quarter. In the final period of play, the Lady Tigers made five of their last seven field goal attempts and both Bullard and Begnaud got key blocks in the final seconds to preserve the 76-74 win for Ouachita.
The Lady Tigers will travel to Weatherford, Okla. next Thursday, Feb. 23 to face Southwestern Oklahoma State. Tipoff is set for 5:30 p.m.
