Baseball drops two to Bison

ARKADELPHIA, Ark. – The Ouachita Tigers' baseball team lost both games Saturday in a doubleheader against Oklahoma Baptist. The final score of the first game of the doubleheader was 8-0, and the final score of the second game was 11-1. The losses drop the Tigers' record to 2-9 overall and 0-3 in the Great American Conference.

Abe Young was the starting pitcher in the first game. Young pitched for five innings, allowed five earned runs, and struck out five batters. Adam Bahloul was the starting pitcher for the Tigers in the second game. Bahloul pitched for six innings, allowed five earned runs, and struck out six batters. Justin Wiegle picked up Ouachita's sole RBI of the day.

The first game of the day was dominated by Oklahoma Baptist. The Bison opened the scoring in the third inning and never looked back. A solid defensive performance sealed the game for the Bison, and they won by a final score of 8-0.

The second game of the day, despite its final score, was much closer. Oklahoma Baptist opened scoring in the first inning off of an unearned run. Ouachita leveled the game at 1-1 in the sixth inning when Weigle singled up the middle, driving in Jakahari Howell for a run. The floodgates opened, however, for the Tigers in the top of the sixth inning when they allowed 10 runs.

The Tigers will travel to Henderson State for their next game on Tuesday, Feb. 21. The game will begin at 5 p.m.
