Tigers edged out in final day of 8-State Classic

ARKADELPHIA, Ark. - The Ouachita Tigers' softball team dropped their final two games of the 8-State Classic on Sunday in Bentonville, Ark. The Tigers lost to Concordia-St. Paul, 3-2 in game one and to Fort Hays State by a final of 3-1. The Tigers finished the weekend with an overall record of 6-6.

Macy Nantz started in the circle for the Tigers versus Concordia-St. Paul. They scored a run in each of the first three innings to take a 3-0 league. Only one of the runs was earned. Daniella Brantley scored the Tigers first run in the fourth inning, reaching home on a wild pitch. Sadie Lovelace drove in Ouachita's second run of the game in the sixth. Nantz scored off Lovelace's two-out single.

In the game versus Fort Hays State, Kelsey O'Brien started in the circle. Fort Hays scored all three of their runs in the third inning. Ouachita answered with a run in the bottom of the fourth. Halley Ryburn hit an RBI single to center, scoring Brantley, who led the inning off with a walk. Fort Hays held the Tigers to only two base runners after the fourth inning.

The Tigers return to action on Friday, Feb. 24. They open conference play at home with a four-game series versus Southern Nazarene. Friday's doubleheader is set to start at 2:00 p.m.
