ARKADELPHIA, Ark. - The Ouachita Tigers' baseball team lost its first regular season game to Union by a final score of 7-4. They lost the second game of their opening day doubleheader to Union by a final score of 5-2.
Ty Owens went 3-3 in game two with 2 RBI's.
Union jumped out to an early lead in game one by scoring three runs in the second inning. Ouachita responded in the bottom of the second by scoring a run on an error. Ouachita was never able to overtake the opposition, however. The Tigers scored runs in the third, fourth, and ninth innings and fell by a final of 7-4. John Franklin Matros was the starting pitcher in the loss.
Ouachita opened the second game with two runs in the second inning. Ty Owens stepped up to the plate and hit a triple down the right-field line, knocking in two runs. The Tigers were held scoreless for the remainder of the game and fell by a final of 5-2.
Abe Young pitched six innings in game two for the Tigers and got four strikeouts.
The Tigers will finish their series against Union at Rab Rodgers Field on Sunday, Feb. 5 at 1 p.m.
