ARKADELPHIA, Ark. – The Ouachita Tigers' softball team (10-16, 4-10 GAC) lost both games of a doubleheader Friday against East Central (16-10, 7-7 GAC). The final score of the first game was 3-0 and the final score of the second game was 2-1.
Sarah Johnson scored the sole run for the Tigers when she hit a solo home run in the fourth inning of the second game. It was Johnson's fourth home run of the season.
The Tigers only had two hits in the first game of the doubleheader.
Kelsey O'Brien was the starting pitcher and struck out four batters. Two of East Central's runs came in the first inning and the third came in the seventh.
Ouachita played better in the second game of the doubleheader. East Central opened the scoring in the third inning when Ellanee Allison was hit by a pitch, driving in a run. The two teams traded runs in the fourth inning to make the score 2-1, and the Tigers were not able to score again and take the lead.
Marissa Butler was the starting pitcher in the game. Butler pitched a complete game and struck out four batters.
The series between the two teams will conclude tomorrow, Mar. 18, with a doubleheader. Games will be played at 12 and 2 p.m.
