ARKADELPHIA, Ark - The Ouachita Tigers' softball team (13-19, 7-13 GAC) split a doubleheader Sunday with Southeastern Oklahoma (14-14, 8-10 GAC). Southeastern won the first game by a score of 7-4, while Ouachita won the second game by a score of 12-7.
Macy Nantz hit two home runs on the day, while Daniella Brantley and Jordan Fielder hit a home run each. Macy Nantz picked up a win from the pitching mound in the second game, pitching more than five innings and striking out two batters.
Ouachita opened the first game with a first inning run, but Southeastern responded with three runs to take a 3-1 lead. Jordan Fielder then hit a two-run home run in the third inning to tie the game. Southeastern quickly responded with four fourth inning runs to take a 7-3 lead, and the Tigers were never able to claw their way back.
Macy Nantz opened the second game strong with a two-run home run in the first inning. Kelly Powell followed it up with a one- run single to give the Tigers a 3-0 lead. Southeastern had a big second inning, scoring four runs and claiming the lead, but Ouachita responded in the fourth and fifth innings with seven runs to take a 10-4 lead. Daniella Brantley and Nantz both homered in the sixth inning to give the Tigers a 12-7 victory.
The Tigers will travel to Magnolia, Ark., next weekend to face Southern Arkansas. Games will begin on Friday, Mar. 31, at 2 p.m.
