ARKADELPHIA, Ark. – The Ouachita Tigers' softball team (10-10, 4-4 GAC) lost both games of a doubleheader Saturday to the Arkansas Tech Golden Suns (13-7, 7-1 GAC). The Tigers dropped the first game by a score of 5-0 and the second by a score of 9-1.
 
Kesley O'Brien pitched a complete game for the Tigers in the first leg. O'Brien struck out three batters and only allowed four hits in the loss. 
Macy Nantz started the second game for the Tigers, pitching two innings and giving up four runs. 
Marissa Butler relieved Nantz in the third inning, but she was unable to salvage a win for the Tigers in the second game.
 
In the first game, Arkansas Tech dominated early. The Golden Suns hit a 3-run home run in the bottom of the first inning which contributed to a 4-0 lead at the end of the inning. Tech pitcher Jalissa Gum kept the Tigers off the scoreboard for the entirety of the game, only allowing three hits and striking out 12 batters.
 
Arkansas Tech was in control for the entirety of the second day of the game as well. The Golden Suns scored two runs in each of the first four innings, building up an 8-0 lead heading into the fifth inning. 
Macy Wilson doubled in the top of the fifth to drive in 
Cassie Cantu and cut the Golden Sun lead to 7, but Tech responded with one run in the bottom of the inning to enact the run rule upon the Tigers.
 
Ouachita will play again next weekend in a 4-game series against Harding. Play will begin in Arkadelphia on Friday, Mar. 10 at 3 p.m.
