ARKADELPHIA, Ark. – The Ouachita Tigers' baseball team (11-25, 8-14 GAC) was unable to fend off a late rally from Arkansas Monticello (21-12, 16-6 GAC) and lost the away game by a final score of 7-6.
 
Ouachita held a 6-3 lead over the Boll Weevils heading into the bottom of the sixth, but UAM rallied with two sixth-inning runs and one run in the seventh and eighth innings respectively to take a lead over the Tigers and win the game.
 
John Franklin Matros was the starting pitcher for the Tigers, but it was Brian Krikorian who received the decision as he was pitching when UAM took the lead. Matros struck out six batters in just over five innings of action. Jakahari Howell had two doubles and two RBI for the Tigers.
 
Ouachita opened the game strong with three runs in the first inning, two of which were unearned off of an error. UAM scored one in the second, but Justin Weigle homered in the third to extend Ouachita's lead to 4-1. JD Speed and Jakahari Howell picked up RBI in the sixth to make the Ouachita lead 6-3. It was a sacrifice fly in the bottom of the eighth which gave the Boll Weevils a 7-6 lead and the victory.
 
The series between Ouachita and UAM will conclude tomorrow with a doubleheader. Games will be played at 12 and 3 p.m., in Monticello.
