ARKADELPHIA, Ark. - The Ouachita Tigers' baseball team (11-27, 8-16) dropped both games of a series finale doubleheader versus Arkansas-Monticello (23-12, 18-6) on Saturday in Monticello. The Tigers were defeated in game one by a final of 6-2 and 5-2 in the series finale. UAM came from behind in all three games to sweep the weekend series from the Tigers.
Ryan Hammer went 4-7 on the day with two runs scored.
The Tigers took a 2-0 lead in the top of the fourth inning in game one. Hammer scored ona single down the right field line by
Jackson Noakes.
Austin White scored the games second run on a single up the middle from JD Speed. Ouachita held the lead until the bottom of the sixth, when UAM scored three runs. They added two more runs in the seventh and one in the eighth. Speed and
Ty Owens had two hits each in game one. The Tigers had eight total in the opener. The Tigers fell 6-2 in the doubleheader opener.
Preston Speers gave Ouachita a 1-0 lead in the top of the first of game two. His sacrifice fly scored Hammer from third. The Tigers took a 2-1 lead int he top of the fourth when an error by the UAM left fielder allowed Speed to score all the way from first. Teh Weevils scored three runs in the bottom half of the inning. They added a run in the fifth to go up 5-2 and hold on for the win. Hammer finished with three of Ouachita's five hits in the series finale.
