Tigers Send Seniors Out in Style

ARKADELPHIA, Ark. – The Ouachita women's soccer team is starting to peak at the right time of the season as the Tigers defeated both Harding and East Central this week.

On Tuesday afternoon, Ouachita played a hard fought game against in-state rival Harding. Ouachita outshot the Bisons 8-7 in the opening half of play at Kluck field. Despite the strong offensive presence, the game remained scoreless going into the halftime break. Ten minutes into the second half, senior forward Bryson Thomas (Hurst, Texas) found the back of the net to give the Tigers the go-ahead goal. Katie Crouse (Allen, Texas) and Jaymee Dotson (Princeton, Texas) each were credited with an assist on the scoring attempt.

After the goal, the Tigers defense held strong as they survived a barrage of shots from the Harding offense. Time-and-time again, junior goalkeeper Erin Webster (Alvin, Texas) made save after save to keep the shutout intact. Webster ended the game with six saves.

On Saturday afternoon, Ouachita played East Central University over at the local high school. Ouachita defeated East Central 2-0 and swept East Central in the season series. Ouachita came out hot on the offensive side of the ball outshooting East Central 10-3 in the opening half.

Thomas once again made sure the Tigers were on top first with a goal in the 23rd minute of action. Thomas received a through pass from Tori Stratton (Flower Mound, Texas) and powered the ball past the goalkeeper. The Tigers kept the pressure on in the second half and with two seconds to go in the game, Stratton scored her second goal of the season.

Ouachita will have a few days off before they make the trek over to Oklahoma for the Great American Conference Tournament. For more information on the Ouachita women's soccer team, log onto obutigers.com or follow the official social media accounts of Ouachita athletics.
