Ouachita Cruises to Straight Sets Sweep of Southeastern Oklahoma State

DURANT, Okla. – The Ouachita volleyball team hit .303 as a team on Friday night in a straight sets victory over Southeastern Oklahoma State.

Ouachita (16-6, 5-3 GAC) hit .280 or better in every set and only committed seven total errors on the night. Southeastern Oklahoma State (6-14, 2-6 GAC) hit just below .180 and committed 24 errors in the game.

The Tigers offense made sure to spread the ball around tonight, Adrianna Nolly (Denton, Texas) recorded a team high nine kills, Tabatha Huckabee (North Richland Hills, Texas) produced eight kills and a team high four blocks and Emily Low (Austin, Texas) added six kills and four blocks.

Stormi Leonard (Decatur, Texas) registered at least 30 assists for the 12th consecutive contest. Julianna Mack (Little Rock, Ark.) and Nikki Clay (Bryant, Ark.) tied for the team lead with nine digs.

The first set was the only set that the Tigers lost on hitting percentage the entire night. Southeastern hit a game high .324 and produced 18 kills in the opening set. Ouachita actually trailed for the majority of the opening set. Down 20-17 the Tigers flipped the script on the Savage Storm and finished the first set on an 8-3 run.

The Tigers carried the momentum over from the first set and led 8-4 in the early moments of the second set. At 9-7 it appeared that the set could either way, but Ouachita reeled off an impressive 8-3 run to take a 17-10 advantage over the Savage Storm. Southeastern Oklahoma State tried to get back in the set but only got within five points of the Tigers the rest of the way. Back-to-back kills by Paige Williams (Springdale, Ark.) all but locked up the second set for the Tigers.

Ouachita jumped all over the Savage Storm in the third and final set. Up 19-13 the Tigers were in complete control of the set. Southeastern made an effort to get back in the game but Ouachita won the contest before the comeback could be complete.

The Tigers will look to extend their winning streak to six games tomorrow afternoon against East Central University. For all the latest news on the volleyball team, stay tuned to obutigers.com.
