DALLAS, Texas - Despite scoring 50 points in the second half the Ouachita men's basketball team could not overcome a slow first half as they fell to Dallas Baptist 100-77 on Saturday evening.
Ouachita (1-1) shot 53 percent in the second half but it was just one of those nights for Dallas Baptist (3-1) as everything they threw up seemed to go through the net. The Patriots shot 64 percent from the field and connected on 15 three pointers. Â
Mahlon Martin (Little Rock, Ark.) led the Tigers in scoring on Saturday evening with 20 points off 6-11 shooting. The senior guard scored most of his points from beyond the arch going 5-6 from three-point range.
Fellow senior
Wesley Franklin (Frisco, Texas) added an additional 14 points and tied for a team high in rebounds with five.
Kendarious Smith (Conway, Ark.) knocked down a team high seven free throws in route to a 14-point performance.
Trey Harris (Little Rock, Ark.) tied for a team high with five rebounds and added 10 points in the contest.
Dallas Baptist extended their home winning streak to 27 games. Another interesting stat that should be noted is that there have been 97 fouls called in the Tigers first two regular season games.
Ouachita will have about a week off before they head to Fort Smith next Friday night to battle in the University of Arkansas Fort Smith Classic. The Tigers will also face Midwestern State on Saturday evening.
