ARKADELPHIA, Ark. – Although the week did not start out great for the Ouachita women's soccer team they finished off a two game home stint with a 2-0 victory over Northwestern Oklahoma State on Saturday afternoon.
For the second consecutive week, the Tigers finished with a 1-1 record against Great American Conference competition. On Thursday evening, the Tigers fell 4-1 to Southwestern Oklahoma State (6-2-1, 4-0 GAC), but bounced back with a 2-0 win on Saturday afternoon against Northwestern Oklahoma State (1-6-1, 1-3 GAC).
Sophomore
Ashlyn Heckman (Frisco, Texas) led the offense with two goals scored on the week. The Lone Star native also produced six shot attempts and three shots rattled the cage. Senior forward
Bryson Thomas (Hurst, Texas) was the only other Tiger player to find the back of the net this week.
Erin Webster (Alvin, Texas) collected four saves on the week. Webster had her hands full on Thursday night with Southwestern Oklahoma State. The Bulldogs boast three of the top five goal scorers in the conference. After the rough first half, Webster settled in and finished the week with three shutout half's.
Ouachita (4-5, 2-2 GAC) will face Harding and East Central this week. The Harding match will be pivotal for the Tigers with both teams tied in the GAC standings and both are tussling for the third position.
