DURANT, Okla. – Ouachita Men's Basketball team dropped a well fought matchup with Southeastern Oklahoma State 83-74.
Matt Stanley continued to have a great season as he scored 20 points and grabbed eight rebounds.
Trey Harris added 16 points as
Mahlon Martin put in 14 points and five assists.
The Tigers started the game quickly as
Matt Stanley made a layup 11 seconds into the game. Ouachita and SEOSU would go back and forth before the Tigers allowed the Savage Storm to take an 11 point lead.
Matthew Ward would come off to give the Tigers a spark by draining a three to cut the lead to eight with 13 minutes left in the first.
Grant Jones built off his career game against Monticello by scoring four straight points for Ouachita to trim the lead to 22-15.
The Tigers later in the half would go on a 12-2 run to get within one at 28-27. The run ws led by
Matt Stanley who scored eight of the 12 points. Kevin Buckingham for the Storm would hit back to back threes to extend the lead to seven, but the Tigers would not give up as they responded with a
Mahlon Martin three and
Matt Stanley dunk. After two
Kendarious Smith free-throws, the Tigers would go into the half down four points at 40-36.
Out of the half,
Mahlon Martin would make a three pointer to make it a one possession game. However, the Tigers would allow a 6-0 run that was stopped by
Trey Harris with a layup. A 7-2 run which saw an
Allie Freeman layup and
Matthew Ward three put the Tigers back in striking distance down 55-51. After that Ouachita allowed the Savage Storm to take a double digit lead and could never get back under a double digit deficit until
Trey Harris' last second layup.
