#6 Ouachita Tigers (4-0) vs. Southeastern Oklahoma State (1-3)

ARKADELPHIA, ARK—Coming off a thrilling 26-21 win against Southwestern Oklahoma State University in Weatherford, Oklahoma, the Ouachita Tiger Football Team will stay in Arkadelphia this weekend as they celebrate homecoming against the Savage Storm of Southeastern Oklahoma State University this Saturday, Oct. 5.
Last week, Southeastern fell to Southern Nazarene 21-22 after SNU scored 15 points in the last five minutes, including a two-point conversion with 38 seconds left to come from behind and top the Savage Storm.
Bulldogs Scouting Report
Offense: Despite the close loss, last week was not all negatives for the Southeastern squad. The Savage Storm put up almost 400 yards of offense, and recorded 20 first downs, both of which are above their season averages.
In his third game getting snaps as quarterback, Daulton Hatley, threw for 193 yards, and twotouchdowns, both personal bests. At running back, the Savage Storm are stacked 3 deep. RashodPolk ran for 75 yards and a touchdown, averaging 6.3 per attempt, Ryan Taylor rushed for 75 yards, averaging 9.3 an attempt and CJ Shavers rushed for 29, averaging 2.6 an attempt.
Defense: Last week, the Southeastern Offense held the SNU offense to only 9 first downs and forced a 15% 3rd-down-conversion rate. On the year, the Storm has outmatched opponents in both passing yards, and rushing yards a testament to not only the work of the offense, but also the defense. The defense is led by Conner Swope who last week recorded five tackles, Jeremiah Baltrip who recorded fou and Josh Mulumba who also recorded four.
Ouachita Look-in
Last week for Ouachita, the Tigers made the road trip to Southwestern Oklahoma State University and returned home with the Paul Sharp Cup. Ouachita used a strong fourth quarter to secure the victory after trailing for the first time since the first quarter of the Arkansas Tech game.
Offense: Ouachita dominated the time of possession game, holding the ball for almost 37 minutes. Shun'cee Thomas was back after not getting any touched in the home win against Northwestern Oklahoma, and led the Tigers on the ground with 102 of Ouachita's 259 rushing yards. TJ Cole added 52 yards and Brockton Brown added 45 yards and a touchdown.
Brayden Brazeal continued his season as one of the nations most accurate passers going 13-19 for 141 yards and two touchdowns. Receivers Justin Dean and Keemontrae McKnight both recorded their first collegiate touchdowns, putting up a combined 72 yards receiving. Allie Freeman, a reliable presence on the offensive side of the ball caught seven passes for 49 yards.
Defense: Jonathan Harris led the Tigers with six tackles, Hunter white had five, one of which was for a loss, and Jon Johnson, Austin Guymon and Dameyun McDonald also recorded five tackles each. Tommy Crumption III caught
Special Teams: GAC Special Teams Player of the Week Gabe Goodman went 2-2 on PAT's as well as 2-2 on Field Goals including his 43-yard career long. Jake Ford continued to be a dominant presence with two booming punts, averaging 52 yards. He placed one inside the 20 with his longest being 66 yards. He also had six kickoffs averaging 64.2 yards per kick.
Game History
The Tigers are 6-2 all time against Southeastern Oklahoma State. Last year, the Tigers scored 18 unanswered points in the fourth quarter to top the Savage Storm 32-16 in Durant. Throughout the history of the matchup, 6 of the 8 games have been decided by less than 10 points, the only two that were not, Ouachita won handsomely, both in from of a home crowd.
