ARKADELPHIA, Ark. – Two second half goals propel Ouachita Women's Soccer to a 2-1 victory over reigning Great American Conference champions Oklahoma Baptist.
The Tigers scored their first goal of the game in the second half at the 55 minute mark.
Madison Humbard got the ball on a breakaway making a nice move to get around the Bison defender. She then fired a shot that was blocked by the Oklahoma Baptist goalie. However,
Gracen Turner ran in and cleaned up the block rocketing the ball into the left side of the goal.
With less than two minutes left in the contest the Tigers were granted a free kick from 20 yards out taken by
Ashlyn Heckman. She sent a ball into the box that was headed into the air by
Jaymee Dotson. The ball was caught by the Goalie who was standing in the goal as the ball crossed the goal line giving Ouachita the point.
The Bison controlled the shot totals on the day firing 33 shots with 11 of them being on goal. Oklahoma Baptist scored in the first half of the match as Katie Fowler lofted in a goal over Tiger goalie
Erin Webster.
Webster played all 90 minutes for Ouachita in goal; she had nine saves for the Tigers. The Tigers had one other save in the match as
Meagan North slid in and cleared out a shot right before it crossed the goal line.
The game was played without a yellow card given out for either team. The Tigers only tallied six penalties the entire game as Oklahoma Baptist put in 16.
Ouachita is back in action on Saturday, Oct. 5 as they face off against Southern Nazarene at 1:00 p.m. at Kluck Field.
