Tigers Clinch GAC Championship

ARKADELPHIA, Ark. – Four touchdown runs in the first half by Brockton Brown propel Ouachita to a 35-7 win over the Arkansas-Monticello Boll Weevils.
 
Allie Freeman for the second week in a row set a Great American Conference record. This week he became the All-Time leader in receptions in a career. On the day he pulled in seven receptions for 97 yards and a touchdown.  
 
Brown for the third straight contest recorded three or more rushing touchdowns. He led the grown attack today with 11 rushes for 99 yards and the four scores in the first half. Shun'cee Thomas recorded 64 yards on 15 attempts while TJ Cole and Darius Hopkins combined for 75 yards.
 
Brayden Brazeal had another solid outing for the Tigers. HE went 11 for 13 on the day recording 155 yards and a touchdown. Outside of Freeman, his favorite target was Hayden Waller who brought in two catches for 30 yards.
 
The Tigers defense disrupted the Boll Weevils offense by being aggressive in the trenches. Ouachita put in a season high four sacks in the game led by Lafoy Smith who record two himself. Hunter White led all Tigers defenders in takles with eight, six solo and two assisted. Austin Guymon and Greg Junior both added in six tackles for the Tigers as Guymon also put in a sack while Junior had a pass breakup.
 
Out of the gate the game was all Ouachita as the Tigers stopped UAM in four downs on their opening drive. On the Tigers possession Brazeal and Freeman were clicking completing three passes over 10 yards. Brown put an exclamation point on the drive scoring from a yard out. On the next drive for the Tigers Hayden Waller came down with a 23 yard recption on a 3rd and 8 to give Ouachita a crucial first down. Brown later in the drive punched in another touchdown run putting the Tigers up 14-0.
 
A minute later the Tigers got the ball back and only took two plays to score. TJ Cole caught a 21 yard pass from Brazeal setting up a 33 yard touchdown run by Brown. With 3:40 left in the first half the Tigers received the ball on the Boll Weevils' 49 yard line. On the first play of the drive Brazeal sent a 42 yard bomb to freeman setting up a six yard scamper from Brown allowing the Tigers to go up 28-0 into the half.
 
The game got sloppy in the second half with turnovers by both teams. The Tigers used this to their advantage using a six play drive to score again. This time an eight yard pass frm Brazeal to Freeman gave Ouachita a 35-0 advantage. The Tigers gave up a gargage time touchdown to the Weevils but closed out the game capturing the 35-7 win.
 
The Tigers captured the Great American Conference Title with the win against Arkansas-Monticello. The win is the Tigers 26th consecutive win which ties the record currently held by Henderson State.
 
The Tigers will back at Cliff Harris Stadium on Saturday, Nov. 16 against Henderson State at 1 p.m for the Battle of the Ravine.
