Ouachita's Hot Bench Holds Off Harding

Arkadelphia Ark. – Ouachita holds on late to defeat the Harding University Bisons 73-70. 

Four Tigers were in double digits as Allie Freeman came off the bench and led the way with 18 points and four assists. Kendarious Smith tallied 17 more bench points with 9 rebounds. Trey Harris contributed 11 and Matt Stanley added 10. 

Harding's Romio Harvey led all scorers with 28 points while shooting 6-11 from three-point range. 

A little over two minutes in Morris Talbert knocked down the first bucket of the game and the Tigers never looked back. Ouachita held the 2-0 lead and kept the lead for the entirety of the game. With 5:37 to play in the first half, Ouachita went on a 9-0 run started by an Allie Freeman layup. The run was capped off by two straight dunks by Kendarious Smith to go up 13. Ouachita took a 13-point lead into halftime at 45-32. 

Ouachita picked up the second half right where they left off. The Tigers extended their lead out to as much as 16, but Harding would not give in. 

With five minutes to play Harding went on an 11-0 run that spanned three minutes to bring the game to 67-64 with under two minutes to play. Despite the late surge from Harding, Ouachita would ice the game on six free throws to capture the wall to wall victory 73-70. 

The Tigers shot 45 percent from the field and 49 of their 73 points came from the bench. 

Ouachita improves to 4-4, 2-2 in conference play, while Harding drops to 6-4, 1-3 in conference.
