Arkadelphia Ark. – Three Lady Tigers put-up double-digit points but fall short as Ouachita loses to the Harding University Bisons 71-61.
Junior guard Maija Gertstone led all scorers with 19 points as she also added three assists and two rebounds. Madison Raney contributed with 12 points on 5-7 shooting. Jakyya Clay came off the bench with 11 points.
Harding came out firing as they scored the first nine points. Ouachita followed it up on a 6-0 run of their own capped off by a free throw by Jakyya Clay. Ouachita had to play catch up in the first quarter as the period came to a close with Harding up 19-11.
In the second quarter, Ouachita would claw their way back into it down 27-25 with 4:21 left as freshman Makayla Miller would cap a 7-0 run with a layup. Ouachita kept it close going into halftime down 35-29.
Beginning the third quarter the Lady Tigers went on a run. Ouachita surged their way into a 46-45 lead with 3:02 to play in the third on a Madison Brittain corner three pointer. Harding promptly took a timeout and would return the favor by going on a 8-0 run to close the third quarter.
Harding continued to run away with it in the final period as they would go on to win 71-61.
The Lady Tigers shot just 42 percent from the free throw line and committed 21 turnovers. Ouachita would shoot 51 percent from the field, but it was not enough.
Ouachita fell to 2-7, 0-4 in conference play, while Harding improved to 5-3, 2-2 in conference.
