Arkadelphia, Ark. – Ouachita battled all game, but fell short to the Southern Arkansas University Muleriders 73-58.

Junior forward Jakkya Clay led all scorers with 21 points on 60% shooting while she pulled down six rebounds and added two assists in her 30 minutes of play.

Senior guard Madison Brittain broke through the 1,000-point milestone with a three-point bucket at 4:34 left in the third quarter. Brittain racked up five points in her effort today.

To start the game, Ouachita rattled off seven straight points in the first quarter to take a seven-point lead. Ouachita would hold the lead for the majority of the first quarter as they went into the second period with a 13-12 lead.

SAU would charge forward in the second quarter as they went on a 12-point scoring run over a four-minute duration on 60% shooting. Once SAU took the lead they never looked back as they held the lead for nearly 29 straight minutes. SAU had two players in double digits as Kisi Young tallied 12 points and Ariana Guinn scored 11.

Ouachita went into halftime down 38-26. To start the second half Ouachita came out hot scoring 20 points in the third quarter, but SAU continued their consistent play. The second half total was close, but Ouachita never made up for the lopsided second quarter. SAU would coast to victory with a final of 73-58.

Ouachita took care of the ball throughout the game as they only turned it over eight times to SAU's 15, but the difference in the game was SAU's bench. SAU's bench players scored 39 points as they accounted for over half of the team's total count.

Ouachita fell to 2-6, 0-3 in conference play, while SAU improved to 6-1, 2-1 in conference.
