ARKADELPHIA, Ark. – Coach
Rachel Jones started her inaugural season as coach of the Ouachita Tiger Women's Tennis Team with a good showing against Rhodes.
The Tigers battled hard with Rhodes but fell in the end 8-1.
In the doubles matchup the Tigers were neck and neck with the Lynx.
Mallory Tabler and
Kendra Dinsmore were paired up for the first doubles match as they faced Adan-Pol and Safarian for the Lynx. The Ouachita duo fell in the end after in a tie breaker 8-7.
In the second doubles spot
Haylee Cannon and Taylor Hanard faced off against the Rhodes duo of Dogherty and McGough. After going back and forth with the Lynx the Tigers were defeated 8-6. The Third dobles matchup of the day saw
Claire Phillips and
Lindsay Gills falling to Rhodes 8-4.
In singles
Mallory Tabler got the nod in the number one spot as she took on Rhodes' Adan- Pol. After dropping the first set, Tabler would show her determination forcing a tie break, however, she would suffer her first defeat of the season 6-4, 7-6 (4). In the second position
Kendra Dinsmore would face off with the Lynx's Safarian and fall 6-1,6-3.
Haylee Cannon would take the three position in the lineup and capture a win for the Tigers. She would make quick work of Rhodes' Doherty with a final of 6-1,6-2.
In the fourth matchup of the day
Taylor Hansard took the Lynx's McGough to three sets. She lost in the end but showed great effort with a score of 6-3, 4-6, 6-2. In the fifth and sixth holes
Lindsay Gills and Clair Phillips both fell in their matchups with scores of 7-5, 6-4.
The Tigers will return to Ward Tennis Complex on Sunday February 10 to face off against rival Henderson State at 2:30 PM.
