Sutton and McBride Lead Tigers to Win

ARKADELPHIA, Ark. – The Ouachita Tiger's Baseball team uses nine runs in three consecutive innings to defeat the University of the Ozarks 9-7.
 
Sophomre Cade McBride led the Tigers with two hits and three runs batted in. Freshman Kade Stuart reached base all of his four at bats with a walk, two singles and a double. Bo Sutton got the start on the mound and also had a hit and two runs batted in from the plate.
 
Sutton would start the top of the first off right for the Tigers as he faced three batters striking out two of them. For the Tigers in the bottom of the inning would get its first hit of the game from a Tyler Riebock double. He would reach third base on a passed ball but would be stranded there. In the second Sutton would allow a base runner with a hit by pitch, but two pop ups later and Ouachita would head into the bottom of the second. The Tigers would not get anything to go in the second.
 
In the third Sutton would give up his first hit but would not give up any runs. The Tigers would get their first points on the board in the bottom of the third. A walk, a single and a fielder's choice would load the basses for Bo Sutton. Sutton would rip a double down the first base line to drive in two runs. Tyler Riebock and Hunter Gautreaux would walk setting up Cade McBride to single home two more runs. At the end of the third the Tigers would hold a 5-0 lead.
 
Bo Sutton would load the bases in the top of the fourth but ended the inning by striking out two consecutive batters. In the bottom half of the inning Kade Stuart would double to start the inning and then steal third base. Aaron Studdard singled him home, and then Studdard scored on a Tyler Riebock double. Later in the inning Cade McBride would single home Riebock to give the Tigers a 8-0 lead after four.
 
Ouachita would bring in Abe Young to pitch in the fifth inning. He would make quick work of the Eagles batters in doing so striking out two. In the bottom of the fifth the Tigers would put another run on the board as a Chris Willard walk turned into a Logan Huneycutt sacrifice fly.
 
The top of the sixth inning saw new faces for the Tigers as Jordan Izzo came into pitch and his younger brother Zach Izzo came into catch for him. After allowing a leadoff him Izzo would not allow anything else taking the tigers to the bottom of the sixth. In the bottom of the sixth Jacob Crumpler and Ben Swanger both saw action for Ouachita.  In the top of the seventh Colin McWhorter would take over duties in center field. The Eagles would get their first run, but they would still trail the Tigers 9-1.  In the bottom of the seventh the Tigers would load the bases twice but could not score.
 
In the eighth and ninth the eagles would score six runs, but Carter Wade would come in an close out the game for the Tigers to give Ouachita the 9-7 win.
 
The Tigers return Rab Rodgers Field on Friday February 15 as they take on Arkansas Tech at 2:00 PM to start conference play.
