Tigers Open Up Conference Play Against Tech

 

Arkadelphia, Ark. - Tigers opened up conference play against Arkansas Tech on Saturday. While it was a bit of a rough start for Ouachita, they will look to take the win against Tech on Sunday in game three of the series.

 

The first game of the double header on Saturday ended with Tech taking a 15-2 victory over the Tigers. Luke Scaggs would open up the weekend on the mound for Ouachita. The first three innings of play were quiet on both sides as neither team was able to put up any runs. In the top of the fourth inning, Arkansas Tech would put up the first four runs in the game. In the top of the fifth inning, Kaden Tollett would replace Scaggs on the mound for the Tigers. Scaggs ended the day with three strikeouts, and would allow eight runs off of nine hits. Arkansas Tech would put up a combined eight runs through the fifth and sixth innings. Ben Miller would replace Tollett on the mound in the top of the sixth. Tollett ended the day with two runs allowed off of two hits. Ouachita would get their first hit of the game in the bottom of the fifth inning coming from a single to left center field from Sophomore Louis Steen. In the sixth inning, Bo Sutton sent a double to left field to get another hit for Ouachita. In the top of the seventh inning Myers Buck would replace Ben Miller on the mound. Tech would add another three runs to the board in the top of the seventh inning. In the bottom of the seventh inning, The Tigers would see some offensive action as Zach Izzo and Louis Steen would hit back-to-back singles. Kade Stuart would ground out to third, but would get Zach Izzo back in for a run. Ben Swanger would the single it out to right center field, which would score Louis Steen. Unfortunately that wouldn't be enough for Ouachita as Arkansas Tech would take the 15-2 win in game one.

 

Going into game two, the Tigers would look to get a win in game two. Adam Bahloul would be the starting pitcher for the Tigers in game two. Arkansas Tech would come out hot scoring two runs in the top of the first inning. Tech would score another combined three runs in the second and third innings of play. In the bottom of the third inning, Pierce Mitchum would single it to left field to get the first hit for Ouachita in the game. Tech would add another run to the board in the top of the fourth. Tyler Riebock hit a monster double down the right field line in the bottom of the fourth inning. Bahloul would go three up three down and leave Arkansas Tech scoreless in the top of the fifth. Logan Honeycutt hit a single out to left center field in the bottom of the fifth inning. Carter Wade would replace Bahloul in the top of the sixth inning. Bahloul would end the day with two strikeouts, and would allow seven runs off of ten hits. Arkansas Tech would once again put two more runs on the board in the sixth. Jordan Izzo would replace Wade on the mound to start the seventh inning. Neither side would score in the seventh inning which would lead to Arkansas Tech taking the game two victory over Ouachita 8-0.

 

The Tigers will play their final game of the weekend series against Arkansas Tech at 12:00 P.M. on Sunday February 17.
