STERLINGTON, La. – Ouachita Tiger's Baseball continues to show growth through weekend battle with reigning champs.
The Tigers were led by strong pitching performances by
Adam Bahloul and
Brandon Matros who each more than six innings in their appearances. At the plate,
Louis Steen went 5-12 during the weekend driving in three runners.
Tyler Riebock continued crushing the ball as he had two homeruns during the three games against Monticello.
The Tigers entered the Sunday double header with a 5-5 record.
Adam Bahloul took the mound looking to continue his dominant season. Bahloul would strike out 10 batters in 7.1 innings only allowing four hits and three runs.
Ouachita would take the early lead in game one as
Louis Steen would hit his second homerun of the year in the top of the first inning. However, some costly late errors would allow Monticello to take game one, 4-2.
The second game of Sunday saw
Brandon Matros go the whole way pitching 6.1 innings giving up only six hits and three runs. UAM would take the early 1-0 lead, but the Tigers would shut down the Weevils for the next five innings.
In the top of the sixth,
Tyler Riebock would give the Tigers their first lead of the day with a homerun to right field. However, the Weevils would walk it off winning game two 3-2.
In the last game on Monday the Tigers and Weevils would get into a shoot-out to see who could score the most runs. The Weevils started the game off with two runs in the first inning, but they were quickly answered by
Tyler Riebock's second homerun of the weekend to tie the game 2-2. After allowing the Weevils to score one in the bottom of the third an
Aaron Studdard RBI sacrifice fly ball tied the game back up.
In the seventh inning, the Tigers would put a run across the plate to take the lead, but the Weevils would respond with a homerun to take back the lead. In the ninth inning the Tigers would load the bases and bring
Louis Steen up who would single in
Hunter Gautreaux from third to tie the game.
Logan Huneycutt would come up next and single home
Tyler Riebock and
Aaron Studdard. The Tigers would give up three runs in the bottom of the ninth to give the Weevils the 8-7 win.
The Tigers are back in action today against Texas A&M- Texarkana at 3:00 PM.
