ARKADELPHIA, Ark. – Ouachita Tiger Softball splits the first double header of the weekend series with Southwestern Oklahoma State as they win the firs 11-2 and drop the second 0-16.
In the first game the hitting trio of
Natalie Jackson,
Jillian Jones and
Macy Wilson carried the Tigers to 14 hits and 11 runs.
Marissa Butler pitched a complete game allowing only three hits and two runs in the first game. Butler would also come in relief during the second game only allowing four hits and two runs.
In the first inning the Tigers would come out hot as
Tobi Finley would start off the game with a single.
Madison Miller and
Jillian Jones would single scoring Finley. With two outs Designated Player
Kelsey O'Brien would single to left field scoring Miller and Jones.
Macy Wilson would come up next and blast a triple down the right field line. The Tigers would end the inning with a 4-0 lead.
The second inning would start with
Callie Jourdan getting on base from an error before
Natalie Jackson would hit her second homerun of the season.
Jillian Jones would hit a double in the inning but Ouachita could not plate her taking a 6-0 lead after two innings.
In the bottom of the fourth inning
Jillian Jones would pick up her third hit and second RBI of the day as she would drive home
Madison Miller.
Macy Wilson a few batters later would drive home
Jillian Jones to give the Tigers a 8-2 lead after four. In the fifth the Tigers would put across another run giving them a 9-2 lead.
In the bottom of the sixth,
Brooke Taylor would start off the inning with a single up the middle. Ouachita would run rule the Bulldogs on a two run homerun by
Macy Wilson.
In the second game the Bulldogs would use great hitting and a no hitter by their pitcher to win the game 16-0.
The Tigers return to action at Sully Anderson Field at 1:00 to finish out the series against Southwestern Oklahoma State.
