Tigers Take Series Win over SWOSU

WEATHERFORD, Okla. – Tiger Baseball splits the double header with Southwestern Oklahoma State, but they capture the series win to move to 11-13 on the year.

Louis Steen led the Tigers today going 5-7 with three runs batted in across the two games. In the second game Luke Scaggs pitched six innings only allowing two hits and securing the win.

In the first game the Tigers would allow the Bulldogs to strike first in the game as they went up 1-0 in the opening inning. Ouachita would answer back in the top of the second inning as Bo Sutton would rocket a triple to right center scoring Louis Steen. Sutton would then score on a ground out by Chris Willard. The Tigers, however, would allow SWOSU to build a 7-2.

Ouachita would not quit as Logan Huneycutt would start off the sixth inning with a double followed up by a sacrifice bunt by Tyler Riebock. Cade McBride would single home Huneycutt to cut the lead to 7-3. The next batter, Louis Steen, would blast his third homerun of the year scoring two runs.

In the top of the eighth Tyler Riebock continued his dominant season with his GAC leading tenth homerun. Ouachita would add another run as Ben Swanger would hit a sacrifice fly to score Cade McBride. In the Top of the ninth the Tigers captured the lead with a Cade McBride single and a Louis Steen double driving in two runs. However, in the bottom of the ninth the Bulldogs would hit a walk off double to win the game.

In the second game Ouachita would start off the scoring with a Cade McBride double to score Aaron Studdard. They would extend their lead to 3-1 after Louis Steen led off the inning with an inning. Chris Willard would score Steen on a ground out to the shortstop. Pierce Mitchum would triple home Ben Swanger from first base.

In the seventh innings the Tiger's offense would come alive as Logan Huneycutt would single to move Aaron Studdard to second base. Tyler Riebock and Cade McBride both would walk as Studdard would score. Louis Steen would then double to left center clearing the bases and scoring three runs. The Bulldogs would score four runs in the bottom of the seventh, but Tyler Duck would close the door giving the Tigers the 7-5 win.

Ouachita returns to action at Rab Rodgers field on Friday, March 22 against Northwestern State University.
