SEARCY, Ark. – Ouachita Softball splits double-header against Harding University to recapture the fourth seed in the GAC standings.
Halley Ryburn led the Tigers as going 2-4 on the day including a run batted in that ended up being the game winning run.
Natalie Jackson went 3-6 on the day accounting for a fourth of the Tigers hits.
Mabry Smith picked up her first career save for the Tigers as she would close down the Bison in Ouachita's 4-3 win.
The Tigers would capture the win during the second game as
Marissa Butler and picked up her eleventh win of the season. The scoring started in the first inning after a
Macy Wilson walk and a
Jillian Jones single.
Tobi Finley drove in the first run with a double to left field scoring Wilson. Ouachita allowed the Bisons to score a run in the bottom of the first.
Ouachita put another run on the board after
Madison Miller would walk and
Halley Ryburn would single down the right field line. A
Callie Jourdan single up the middle brought home Miller and gave the Tigers a 2-1 lead.
After the Bisons tied the game at two the Tigers used the sixth inning to capture the lead.
Tobi Finley started the inning with a single up the middle before
Leighton Withers used a double to right center to score Finley.
Halley Ryburn then scored Withers from second with a single up the middle.
The Bisons put a run across the board in the bottom of the sixth. However,
Mabry Smith would come in the game pitching two innings only allowing three hits and no runs. In the first game the Tigers struggled to put any runs on the board.
Natalie Jackson led the Tigers hitting with two hits in three at bats.
Macy Wilson and
Samantha Ortiz put in the only other hits for the Tiger who would fall to Harding 7-0.
The Tigers will be back in action on Thursday, April 17 against Southern Arkansas at 2:00 and 4:00 PM. This weekend will be senior weekend as the Tigers will honor their four seniors.
