ARKADELPHIA, Ark. – Ouachita Softball honor seniors, but drop the double headed to Southern Arkansas.
Marissa Butler was lights out on the day as she threw a no-hitter in the first game even though she picked up the loss. In the second game she pitched 3.2 innings only giving up three hits and an earned run.
In the first game both teams struggled hitting as it was not until
Jillian Jones singled in the bottom of the fourth that either team reached on base from a hit. The Tigers got their only other hit on the day in the bottom of the sixth as
Natalie Jackson hit an infield single.
In the top of the seventh Butler put the first runner on by hitting her. The next batter walked and both runners advanced a base on a sacrifice bunt. After a strikeout, the Muleriders used a two out walk and hit by a pitch to score the only run of the game. In the bottom half of the inning the Tigers placed runners on second and third with two errors by the shortstop, but in the end the Tigers would leave them stranded and lose the game 1-0.
In the second game the Tigers fell behind early as the Muleriders put up three runs in the second inning.
Kelsey O'Brien, who started for the Tigers, battled back striking out the side in the third inning. The Tigers recorded four hits including two by
Macy Wilson, but they could not score the runners and would succumb to the Muleriders in the end 6-0.
The Tigers will finish the series with SAU tomorrow with a double header beginning at noon.
