HUNTSVILLE, Ala. –
Emily Low's big day carries the Tigers to a 3-2 victory over Alabama at Huntsville. The Tigers dropped the second game of the day to Lynn University 3-0.
Low put in 20 kills in the first game of the day on 28 attempts for a .571 hitting percentage. She also accounted for a block assist. Senior
Adrianna Nolly added 12 kills, four blocks and four digs during the match.
Abby Cagle (9) and
Katie Camp (8) both played vital rolls in the victory over Huntsville.
Setters
Temi Fayiga and
Joni Schneider both added double-doubles on the day. Fayiga's stat line included 31 assists and 10 digs while Schneider had 21 assists and 11 digs. Libero
Lexie Castillow recorded her career high in digs with 31 in the game.
Against Lynn
Rileigh Fielder led the Tigers with six kills while
Abby Cagle and
Katie Camp both added five kills.
Karli Ferguson scored her first kills on the season with two during the match.
Shannon Hogan and
Lexie Castillow both had double digit digs during the game.
The Tigers came out firing against the host school jumping out to a 10-4 lead capped off by a
Tabatha Huckabee kill. Ouachita stretched their largest lead of the game at 10 with a score of 18-8.
Temi Fayiga put the first set away with a kill at 25-19 giving the Tigers a 1-0 lead. In the second set the Tigers went on a 11-5 run ending the set with a victory on an
Emily Low kill.
Ouachita allowed Huntsville to capture the next to sets tying up the game at 2-2 forcing a fifth set. In the fifth set the Tigers slammed the door on UAH starting the set on a 7-1 run. Low and Camp ended the game for the Tigers at 15-8 giving Ouachita a 3-2 victory.
The Tigers are back in action on Tuesday in Sturgis Physical Education Center in their first conference matchup of the season against Southern Arkansas. The match will begin at 6:00 p.m. and can be followed on Twitter on OuachitaAthletics.
