Tigers Limit Errors in Conference Opening Win

ARKADELPHIA, Ark. – Ouachita Tigers are victorious in their Great American Conference opener by defeating Southern Arkansas 3-1 at Sturgis Physical Education Center.

Senior Adri Nolly led the Tigers to their win by putting in 18 kills on 27 attempts for a .630 hitting percentage. She would also head Ouachita's blocking by tallying six blocks, four solo and two assisted.

Middle Emily Low also showed out for the Tigers as she would secure 12 kills on 23 attacks for a .391 hitting percentage while adding three blocks on the day.

Tabatha Huckabee put in five or more blocks for the third time in her career to help to Tigers. Setters Temi Fayiga and Joni Schneider both pilled in 21 assists for the Tigers. Lexie Castillow's three service aces were the most by a Tiger this season.

The Tigers went down in the first set 22-16 before going on a 6-0 run to tie the game at 22. However, a well called timeout allowed SAU to close out the set on a 3-1 run and take a 1-0 advantage. Ouachita never looked back after that closing the second set out on a 7-1 run to take the 25-23 victory.

Ouachita rode the momentum taking the third set with a score of 25-21. Six different Tigers accounted for kills in the frame, led by Nolly with three. In the last set the Tigers closed out the Muleriders 25-16 behind a great service game.

The Tigers will be back in action on Friday and Saturday in the Harding Invitational. Their next home game is Thursday, Sept. 26 at 6:00 p.m. against Harding.
