Stankovic Shines in Ouachita Tie

ARKADELPHIA, Ark. – Tigers go toe to toe with Mississippi College forcing double overtime before ending the match in a 0-0 tie at Kluck Field.

Eight different Tigers accumulated 18 shots for Ouachita as seven of the shots were on goal. Freshman forward David Stankovic led the Tigers with six shots half of which were on goal; his new career high.

The play on the day was very even between the two teams as Mississippi College controlled possession throughout the match. In the first half the Tigers had many good opportunities to score. One of the highlighted chances came a sussesion of passes from Nery Flores to Matt Heffernan leading to a potential score by Stankovic.

The Tigers continued to push heading into the overtime periods. In the second overtime Ouachita put in consecutive shots that just barely missed the mark. Off the bench Ryan Shaughnessy riffled a shot from 15 feet out towards the right side of the goal which took a diving, outstretched Choctaw goalie to block. Abraham Lazo followed up with a shot from the right side of the box that just went high.

Matt Day was in goal for the Tigers for the entire 110 minutes of the match. He saw 19 shots by Mississippi College eight of which he saved for the Tigers.
