Soccer Suffers 1-0 Defeat to Harding

SEARCY, Ark. – The Tigers fought a good fight against intrastate rival Harding University but suffer defeat in the end with a score of 1-0.
 
The Tigers and Bisons kept the game scoreless for 75 minutes before Harding broke the tie. Melanie Spurgeon nailed a header off of a corner kick by Emma Welch giving the Bisons a 1-0 lead.
 
Ouachita put in many shots during the game recording a season high 22 shots in the contest. 10 of those shots were on goal forcing the Harding goalie to complete 10 saves.
 
Josilyn Kispert led the way for the Tigers in shots tallying eight with three being on goal. Meagan North put in six shots with three on goal while Ashlyn Heckman followed in suit with five shots, three being on goal.
 
Kylie Sharp's shot on goal in the 89th minute was on target to tie the contest but was saved by Jessica Woessner, Harding's goalie.
 
In goal for the Tigers was Erin Webster who played all 90 minutes of the game. She worked hard throughout saving nine attempted shots by Harding.
 
The Tigers played under control in the game only committing five fouls compared to the 10 by Harding. There were no cards given out by the refs throughout the clean game.
 
Ouachita will be back in action on Thursday, Oct. 3 to face off against Oklahoma Baptist at Kluck Field at 4:00 p.m.
