JACKSON, Tenn. – The Ouachita Tigers (1-2) came up short in game one 3-13, but earned their first win of the 2020 season after an 8-6 victory in game two over Union University (2-1).
Game One:
Junior
Beau Burson (0-1) made his first start as a Tiger, throwing 3.1 innings. Burson gave up five runs (four earned) on six hits, three walks, and four strikeouts. Junior
Hunter Gautreaux (0-0) relieved Burson for 1.2 innings, allowing seven hits, five runs, and two strikeouts. Freshman
Maddox Long (0-0) was next in line and pitched a third of an inning, giving up three runs on three hits, a walk, and a strikeout. The final pitcher of the game for the Tigers was senior
Sheldon McCown (0-0), who pitched lights out for his two-thirds of an inning.
Offensively, the Tigers scored one run in the third and two runs in the sixth inning. Senior

Cole Kelly for the first run in the sixth inning.
Pierce Mitchum hit a sacrifice fly to left field to score junior

Ouachita Highlights:
- Louis Steen went 1 for 2 with a double, run scored, and walk.
- Logan Huneycutt went 1 for 3 with an RBI single, and a strikeout.
- Cade McBride went 1 for 3 with a single and a walk.
- Simmons Sowell went 1 for 3 with a single.
- Josh Salim went 1 for 3 with a single and a strikeout.
- Ouachita's pitching staff struck out seven batters against the Bulldogs.
- Cade Burris (1-1) stole the only base for the Tigers.
Union Highlights:
- The Bulldogs scored eight runs in the sixth inning.

Game Two:
Junior
Noah Fowler (0-0) made his first start of the 2020 season, throwing 4.1 innings. Fowler allowed four runs, three hits, two walks, and gained four strikeouts of the 17 batters he faced. Junior
Carter Wade (1-0) picked up the win for the Tigers after 1.1 innings of two-hit, two-run baseball.
Logan Huneycutt (0-0) earned the first Tiger save of the season after pitching 1.1 innings of scoreless baseball.
The Tiger offense struck first with two runs in the first inning.
Blake Tubbs hit a two-run single to center field to plate Huneycutt and Riebock.
In the fifth inning, Ouachita would add two more runs, beginning with an RBI single to right field from Tubbs to score Steen. McBride then singled to left field to plate Riebock for the final run in the inning.
With the score knotted up 4-4, the Tiger offense exploded for a four-run sixth inning. Huneycutt doubled to right field to score freshman
Matt Bryant before Riebock hit a three-run homerun over the right field wall to make it 8-4. The Tigers would hold on for the final two innings defensively to earn their first win of the season.

- The pitching staff had seven strikeouts against the Bulldogs.
- The Tiger defense did not commit an error in the game.

The Ouachita Tigers will host the OBU/HSU Invitational at Rab Rodgers Field for a three-day, three-game series. They will play the University of Central Oklahoma on Friday, Northwest Missouri State on Saturday, and Newman University on Sunday. All three games begin at 1:00 p.m.
