ARKADELPHIA, Ark. – The Ouachita Lady Tigers fought hard on senior day, but the Southwestern Oklahoma State Lady Bulldogs pulled away 72-63.
Madison Brittain and Laura Spradlin played their final home games as Lady Tigers.
Ouachita kept things close for much of the first half, but in the final few minutes SWOSU pulled away. The Lady Tigers came out of halftime and cut the deficit to six but was unable to complete the comeback in a nine-point loss.
Maija Gertsone led the Lady Tigers with 16.
For SWOSU, Tyra Aska led the way with 27.
The Lady Tigers fell down 8-0 but quickly fought back. With about six to play in the first quarter, the Lady Tigers began to heat up with Madison Brittain and Maija Gertsone knocking in back-to-back threes. The 8-0 SWOSU lead quickly evaporated and became 10-10.
Ouachita began the second quarter down 22-18.
The Lady Tigers scored two straight buckets to tie it up, but SWOSU answered back with 11 straight. In a first half consisting of runs, the Lady Bulldogs closed out the first half with a hot streak.
The Lady Tigers went into halftime facing a 40-29 deficit.
Ouachita fought back to make it a six-point game with under six in the third, but that's as close as the Lady Tigers would get.
The Lady Tigers needed a comeback as the third came to a close with a 54-45 Lady Bulldog's advantage.
Despite the fight, a comeback was unable to be completed by the Lady Tigers.
The Lady Tigers dropped to 4-22, 1-19 in conference play, while Southwestern Oklahoma State improved to 19-7, 14-6 in conference.
