ADA, Okla. – The Ouachita Baptist Lady Tigers were unable to catch up with the East Central Tigers in the second half in a 62-51 loss.
Ouachita held control of the game for the first half, but East Central stormed back in the second. ECU started the second half on a 13-0 run and Ouachita had to play catch up the rest of the game. Unfortunately, Ouachita was unable to complete the comeback.
Madison Brittain led Ouachita with 16 points. Jakyya Clay added 13.
Madison Nickens led ECU with 21. Madison Rehl and Sam Schwab both tallied 14.
Ouachita jumped out to an 11-9 lead in the first 5 minutes. Ouachita tried to establish control, but East Central roared back on a 6-0 run. Madison Brittain knocked in a three pointer to send Ouachita into the second quarter with a 16-15 lead.
Both offenses slowed down in the second quarter, but Ouachita was able to hold its lead. Ouachita shot lights out from three-point land in the first half at 54.5 percent.
Ouachita led East Central 27-26 at the break.
East Central came out of halftime to the tune of a 13-0 run. ECU's second quarter offensive woes were a thing of the past as Ouachita fell behind.
Ouachita tried to fight back into it but went into the final quarter down 45-36.
ECU's 13-0 run was too much for Ouachita to overcome in an 11-point loss.
The Lady Tigers fell to 4-23, 1-20 in conference play, while East Central improved to 10-17, 8-13 in conference.
The Lady Tigers will cap off its season Saturday, Feb. 29 on the road against Southeastern Oklahoma State University. The game will be at 1 p.m. For all things Lady Tiger Basketball, stay tuned to obutigers.com.
