MONTICELLO, Ark. – The Ouachita Baptist Tigers dropped two games on the road against Arkansas- Monticello.
GAME 1: Ouachita 4, Monticello 8
The Tigers were unable to keep pace as Monticello's bats came to life for eight runs and 14 hits.
Madison Miller started for the Tigers and went 3.1 innings. She gave up four runs, two earned, allowed five hits and struck out three.
Faith Melton came in relief of Miller and went 2.1 innings and gave up four earned runs. Nicole Arreola threw a third of an inning.
Heather Brown led the Tigers with three hits and an RBI. Hope Waid and Macy Wilson both recorded two hits and one RBI respectively.
The Tigers scored one in the third on a Hope Waid single, one in the fifth on a Macy Wilson single and two in the sixth on singles by Callie Jourdan and Heather Brown.
Monticello's first four runs were produced on something other than hits. The first, fourth, fifth and sixth innings all saw Monticello mount two runs.
Despite Ouachita cutting the deficit to 6-4 in the sixth, Monticello added two insurance runs in the bottom half to secure the win.
GAME 2: Ouachita 4, Monticello 5
The Tigers held an early lead and fought till the end but fell in extra innings on a walk off single.
Nicole Arreola started for the Tigers and went 4 innings. She gave up four earned runs on four hits and four strikeouts.
Madison Miller came out of the pen and went 3.2 innings. She gave up one unearned run.
Five Tigers recorded hits. Sloan Precure and Callie Jourdan both contributed RBIs.
The Tigers held a 3-0 lead through the first three innings but could not hold on. Ouachita scored an insurance run in the top half of the fifth to make it a 4-2 game but was unable follow the scoring with a shutdown inning. UAM answered back to tie it at 4.
In the eighth inning, it was a walk off single to left that lifted Monticello to a four-game sweep.
Ouachita Baptist fell to 2-10, 0-4 in GAC play while Arkansas- Monticello improved to 6-7, 4-0 in conference.
