Long Ball Helps Lead Tigers to 10-4 Victory Over SNU

ARKADELPHIA, Ark. – Tyler Riebock and Cade McBride hit home runs to help lead the Ouachita Tigers (3-4 GAC, 7-8 Overall) to a 10-4 victory over the Southern Nazarene Crimson Storm (0-7 GAC, 5-11 Overall).

Ouachita Pitching
 
Brandon Matros (1-4) earned his first win of the season after seven innings on the mound. He allowed three runs (two earned) on four hits, four walks, and seven strikeouts. Maddox Long (0-0) pitched the eighth inning and gave up one walk, while striking out three. Sheldon McCown (0-0) pitched the ninth inning and allowed one run on two hits and a strikeout.
 
Ouachita Hitting
Blake Tubbs got the scoring started for Ouachita in the top of the first inning with an RBI double that scored Tyler Riebock. A batter later, CW Schrader hit a sacrifice fly to right field to score Logan Huneycutt.
 
In the third inning, Cade McBride hit a two-run single to left field that scored Tubbs and Schrader.
 
With the score 4-1, Blake Tubbs flew out to right field for a sacrifice fly to score Simmons Sowell in the fourth inning. Next up, Louis Steen hit a single to left field that scored Riebock for a 6-1 lead.
 
The Tiger offense would spark back to life in the seventh inning with four runs for a 10-3 advantage. McBride hit his first home run of the season to lead off the inning. A few batters later, Sowell singled to score Matt Bryant. Tyler Riebock would score the final two runs for the Tigers on a mammoth home run off the tennis courts behind center field that scored Sowell.

  • The Tigers earned their first win-streak of the season (three games) after the win over SNU.
  • Brandon Matros earned his first win of the season.
  • The Tigers had double-digit hits and runs for the second straight game.

  • Tyler Riebock hit his team-leading seventh home run of the season. He went 2 for 4 with a two-run home run, a double, three runs scored, a walk, and a strikeout.
  • Blake Tubbs went 3 for 4 with a double, a run scored, a sacrifice fly, and two RBI's.
  • Cade McBride went 2 for 5 with a homerun, one run scored, three RBI's, and a strikeout.
  • Colton Schrader reached base in every at bat of the game. He went 1 for 1 with three walks, a run scored, and a sacrifice fly.
