ARKADELPHIA, Ark. – The Ouachita Tigers (1-4) dropped the home opener 9-7 against the Bearcats of Northwest Missouri State University (4-2).
Noah Fowler (0-0) made his second start for the Tigers, throwing three innings of two-run five-hit baseball.
Parker Edwards (0-0) relieved Fowler for the next two innings, giving up five hits and two runs in his outing.
Tommy Foster (0-0) walked the one batter he faced in his first appearance as a Tiger.
Hunter Gautreaux (0-0) was the fourth Ouachita pitcher to take the mound. He threw 2.1 innings and surrendered two hits and a run.
Logan Huneycutt (0-1) was charged with the loss for the Tigers. He closed the game for 1.2 innings and allowed four runs on four hits, two walks and two strikeouts.
Offensively, the Tigers started the scoring in the game with a two-out run in the first inning.
Tyler Riebock hit a double and scored on a
Blake Tubbs single.
The Tigers added a run in each of the third and fourth innings.
Tyler Riebock tripled for his second extra base hit of the day, which scored
Logan Huneycutt. In the fourth inning,
Beau Burson hit an RBI single to left field, which allowed
Louis Steen to score.
For the third time on the day, Riebock had an extra base hit. This time it came as a three-run homerun to put the Tigers up 6-5 in the top of the seventh inning.
In the bottom of the ninth inning, the Tigers would score a final run on a
Simmons Sowell RBI ground ball to second base, which scored
Pierce Mitchum.
