Results vs. Indy | Results vs. Drury

Ouachita Baptist wrestling started Great Lakes Valley Conference competition with losses to Indianapolis and Drury on Sunday at Sturgis Physical Education Center. The Tigers fell to No. 11 Indianapolis 28-9 and to No. 19 Drury by a score of 34-9. Head coach Kevin Crutchmer sent out eight true freshmen against the Greyhounds and seven against the Panthers.

In Ouachita's first match of the afternoon, only freshman Ryan Cochran and sophomore Johnny Green were victorious. Cochran took a forfeit at 197 pounds, and Green defeated Indy's Cale Gray by a 7-5 decision at 285.

In the final dual of the day, a pair of freshmen gave the host Tigers an early 9-0 lead. Brandon Anderson claimed victory by forfeit at 125, and Kennedy picked up his first collegiate win by 11-9 decision over Drury's Joe Chavez at 133.

The Tigers are back in action Tuesday against Kentucky Wesleyan in Memphis.
