ADA, Oklahoma – The Ouachita Baptist University women's soccer team snapped a two-game losing skid in dramatic fashion on Sunday, beating East Central 2-1 on the road with a golden goal in the final moments.
Gracen Turner was responsible for Ouachita's first golden goal of the season, and it came in the final minute of the second overtime period on Sunday. Turner broke free down the left side of the field on on passes from
Jaymee Dotson and
Sydni Perry, maneuvered around the East Central goalkeeper, and used her right foot to give Ouachita (7-3-1, 4-2 GAC) the win. It was Turner's third goal of the year.
ECU (2-8-1, 1-5-1 GAC) had its best chance of winning just four minutes earlier on a penalty kick. However, it was Ouachita's
Michele Snow that won that battle, picking up one of her 11 saves in a complete-game effort.
Ouachita started the game's scoring in the 30th minute on a goal from
Jaymee Dotson, her team-leading fourth of the season and 18th of her career. It was assisted by
Ashlyn Lynch and
Jamie Fowler.
ECU leveled the score with its only goal of the game six minutes later in the first half.
Up next for Ouachita is a pair of home games this week, hosing Southern Nazarene on Thursday at 1:30 p.m. and Oklahoma Baptist on Saturday at 3 p.m.
