ARKADELPHIA – The Ouachita Baptist University volleyball team traveled across the street on Tuesday night and came back with a 3-0 loss to Henderson State in the second volleyball Battle of the Ravine of the 2021 season.
The Reddies (20-8, 9-6 GAC) won the first two sets with by a comfortable margin 25-16 and 25-15, but the Tigers (9-19, 4-11 GAC) gave HSU all it could handle in the third. However, the Reddies pulled out a win by a score of 28-26.
Down 15-8 in the third set, the Tigers scored eight of the next nine points to force a 16-all tie. From that point, neither team scored more than three in a row. The Tigers responded with a point on two different occasions down the stretch with HSU holding set point. However, the Reddies took advantage of a Ouachita error for the final point.
Emily Low led the Tigers with 11 kills and a .429 hitting percentage.
Kellen Church had 18 assists. Two Tigers reached double-digits in digs with
Lexie Castillow at 15 and
Temi Fayiga with 10.
Ouachita closes the regular season on Thursday at Arkansas Tech.
