ARKADELPHIA – The Ouachita Baptist University men's basketball team defeated Arkansas Baptist College on Tuesday night at home by a final score of 79-66.
It was Ouachita's second and final exhibition game of the season. The Tigers have one more non-conference game on the schedule when they Champion Christian College next Tuesday. Ouachita returns to Great American Conference action on Saturday on the road against Southern Arkansas.
In Tuesday night's win over Arkansas Baptist, Ouachita outscored the Buffaloes 38-29 in the first half and 41-37 in the second half.
The Tigers and Buffs went back-and-forth early in the game with ABC holding its biggest lead of six five minutes into the game. The Tigers responded from that deficit with an 18-0 scoring run over the next four minutes to hold a 12-point lead with 9:04 remaining in the half.
Ouachita never trailed from that point, although the Buffs cut the Tiger lead down to six in the early minutes of the second half.
Overall for the game, Ouachita shot 52 percent from the field (32-for-62), 39 percent on three-pointers (9-for-23), and 55 percent on foul shots (6-for-11). The Buffs shot 43 percent from the field (26-for-60), 42 percent on three-pointers (11-for-26), and 50 percent on free throws (3-for-6).
Ouachita had four players reach double-digits in scoring with
Tylar Haynes leading the way with 12 points.
Alex Scariolo and
Ma'Darius Hobson each had 11 points.
Leon Kalinic added 10 points off the bench.
