THE LEAD

Ouachita Baptist struck first Saturday but No. 16 Southern Arkansas scored the game's next eight runs en route to a 16-4 win. The Muleriders collected a season-high 18 hits in the game.

The Tigers scored the game's first run in the bottom of the first inning, when Louis Steen crossed the plate following a wild pitch. Southern Arkansas would answer with three runs in the second, two in the third and three more in the fourth.

Ouachita took advantage of a two-run error and an RBI single by CW Schrader to plate three runs in the fifth. That was all the offense the Tigers could manage on the afternoon.
 

THREE THINGS TO KNOW

-  Junior righthander Michael Soisson limited SAU to one earned run in 2.1 innings of relief 
- Soisson, Jacob Bowman and Garret Hermes each made their Ouachita debuts on the mound Saturday.  Jud Arrington made his collegiate debut as a late-game substitution
- Caleb Donoho recorded his second scoreless outing in as many days with 0.2 innings of shutout ball
