THE RUNDOWN

Ouachita Baptist softball defeated the No. 1 team in the country Saturday, defeating Southern Arkansas 2-1 in the first game of a doubleheader. Nikki Schneider earned the win, allowing one run on four hits in 7.0 innings.

SAU took the lead in the third on a solo home run. The Tigers answered with a pair of runs in the bottom of the third, taking advantage of a pair of two-out errors. Pinch runner Emma McCorkle scored as Sloane Precure reached on a fielding error by the Mulerider shortstop. The next batter, Jillian Jones, reached on an error by SAU's third baseman as Hope Waid crossed the plate.

Schneider settled in after that, allowing just one hit over the final four innings. She finished the game with two strikeouts and two walks allowed, improving her record to 1-1 overall.
