Ouachita Baptist and Southwestern Oklahoma State appeared to be headed to overtime until
Hanna Thompson's 90th-minute goal gave the Tigers the edge Sunday in a 2-1 win at SWOSU Soccer Field in Weatherford, Oklahoma.Thompson's second game-winning goal in as many games pushed Ouachita to 2-0 in Great American Conference play.
The game sat in a scoreless tie at halftime and remained so until the 61st minute. Penalties within seven seconds of each other first gave Ouachita the lead and then SWOSU the equalizer.
Ashlyn Heckman netted her attempt for her fifth goal of the season.
Michele Snow held the Bulldogs to one goal and made one save in her return to action.
MATCH NOTES
- The win was Ouachita's first in its last 10 tries against SWOSU
- The Tigers are 2-0 in GAC play for the first time since the 2016 season
- Thompson's two goals in her last two games are also the first two of her career.
