THE RUNDOWN
Ouachita Baptist softball mounted a three-run rally in the seventh inning Tuesday in the first game of a doubleheader at Henderson State, but the tying run was left stranded on third in a 5-4 loss. The Tigers scored three times on four hits and took advantage of an error before the comeback attempt fell just short.Â
The Tigers took a short-lived lead in the top of the first inning as
Jillian Jones singled home
Heather Brown. The Reddies answered with a run of their own in the bottom of the frame. Three runs in the third and another in the fourth gave Henderson a 5-1 lead.
The Tigers' seventh-inning comeback attempt started with
Callie Jourdan scoring an unearned run as
Hope Waid was put out in a rundown. The next batter, Brown, singled to left to plate
Kyndal Moyer. After
Sloane Precure followed with a double, Jones once again drove in Brown with a single to cut the lead to one. However, the game would end with the tying run 60 feet away.Â
