Tigers Hold Off Reddies To Split Doubleheader

THE RUNDOWN

Ouachita Baptist softball took a 6-0 lead into the seventh inning of Game 2 of Tuesday's doubleheader at Henderson State. The Tigers survived a five-run rally in the final frame for a 6-5 win to salvage a split of the doubleheader.

Ouachita took advantage of a Reddie error in the fourth inning to plate its first run. Jillian Jones' two-run home run in the fifth preceded a second unearned run. A third Henderson State miscue led to another Tiger run in the sixth, followed by an RBI single by Kyndal Moyer that played Jones.

A pair of errors helped Henderson State load the bases with nobody out in the bottom of the seventh. A bases-loaded walk gave the Reddies a run. A two-out double cleared the bases to put three more on the board. A single plated a fifth run and a stolen base put the tying and go-ahead runs in scoring position, but Nicole Arreola was able to coax a fly ball to right field to end the game.
