Ouachita Baptist volleyball jumped out to a big lead early in its match against Southern Arkansas and never relented in a 3-0 victory at Sturgis Physical Education Center on Tuesday. The Tigers won the first 11 points of the match en route to their first sweep of the season.
After an
EJ Day kill on the match's first point,
Kellen Church served for 10 straight points as the Tigers built an 11-0 lead. Ouachita won the first set 25-15 to set the tone for the rest of the match.
A .321 team hitting percentage helped Ouachita take the second by a score of 25-17, as Day and
Karli Ferguson combined for seven kills.
The third set was the closest of the night, as SAU battled back from a 24-20 hole to win three straight points before a kill by Day finished off the match.
