COUNTDOWN TO KICKOFF
Second-seeded Ouachita Baptist women's soccer takes on top-seeded Oklahoma Baptist in the finals of the Great American Conference Tournament on Saturday in Shawnee, Oklahoma.
Ouachita advanced to the championship game on the strength of a 3-0 win over No. 6 Southern Nazarene in Thursday's semifinal match.
Jaymee Dotson scored what would prove to be the game-winner in the seventh minute, and
Gracen Turner and
Olivia White added insurance goals in the final three minutes.
Michele Snow tied a season high with five saves in the shutout.
The Tigers boast nine All-GAC selections, including three First Team honorees, four Second Team selections and two Honorable Mention players, as well as the conference Newcomer of the Year in
Brianna Lozano and the Coach of the Year in
Kevin Wright.
SCOUTING SOUTHERN NAZARENE
- The Bison defeated East Central 3-0 Thursday, outshooting the Tigers 30-11.
- Hannah White scored two goals against ECU to join Kaylee Swaner and Emily Griffith for the team lead with four on the season
- Mia Pendleton has played every minute in goal for Oklahoma Baptist this season, limiting opponents to nine goals in 10 games
LAST MEETING
The Bison defeated Ouachita 2-0 on April 3 in Shawnee. Griffith and Kelsi Mensen scored the Oklahoma Baptist goals as Snow made five saves.
